FIRE CHIEF’S MESSAGE
Thank you for visiting the Rogue River Fire District web site. It is our intent to keep you informed of the district’s programs, activities, Board actions, and other pertinent district information. I hope that your visit will give you an insight into the services that we provide as well as the dedicated people who serve the citizens of our community.
The Rogue River Fire District is a special service district that provides traditional fire, rescue, and prevention services to the City of Rogue River as well as the rural areas surrounding the City. Our District is governed by an elected five-member Board of Directors. Our Directors are community volunteers who provide an essential service to the community by serving in these roles.
The Rogue River Fire District provides service to the approximately 12,000 people who live within the 77 square miles of the Fire District. Rogue River Fire District is also the ambulance service provider for Jackson County ASA #1, providing emergency advanced life support services to 200 square miles of NW Jackson County. We provide these services from our one station which is staffed 24 hours/day. RRFD averages approximately 2,000 fire and EMS calls annually.
Our current staff includes 16 career employees, 14 volunteer responders and an active volunteer support group. All career emergency response personnel are either Oregon licensed Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics, and the majority of our volunteer responders are Oregon licensed EMTs. The District also hosts a student program in conjunction with Rogue Community College. All response personnel receive high levels of training in fire suppression.
As the Fire Chief of the Rogue River Fire District it is my responsibility to make sure that the Fire District operates in a sound and efficient manner. I am extremely proud of the men and women of our Fire District. Every member of our organization works hard every day to bring critical services to our community. These professionals help to make sure our community is safe; and they do their jobs very well. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to stop by the station or call us at (541) 582-4411.
